1. No change in quarantine status.
2. Effective 15 August 2020, if you are using any type of public transportation you must wear a face shield in addition to a mask. This is not an option – BOTH ARE MANDATORY!!
3. The flu season is coming up on us. The flu vaccination is critical this season due to COVID-19. PLEASE get a flu shot. While the Manila VA Clinic has it in stock, we can not get to Manila and the clinic does not plan to send staff on outreach due to the COVID-19 restrictions in Manila. PLEASE GET A FLU SHOT. Sacred Heart Medical Center is where I got mine on Friday 7 August 2020. Sacred Heart has excellent COVID-19 protocols. You can call Angel, HMO Office at 09229248590 for scheduling. Dr. Tan will give the inoculation by appointment only at a cost of P1200. She will also provide you with documentation that you can forward to the Manila VA Clinic for inclusion in your records. Regardless of where you elect to receive it, just get your flu shot.
4. After a long delay, veterans from WWII through Vietnam who need around-the-clock care from a loved one can apply for the VA Family Caregiver Program, beginning October 1.
5. VOTER INFORMATION – Please read thee U.S. Embassy letter for U.S. citizens dated 7 August 2020, for the latest update on voting and getting ballots sent to the U.S. I forwarded that letter to Ray Jones for appropriate distribution.
6. The U.S. Senate has banned Byte-dance-owned TikTok from all U.S. government devices. President Trump issued an executive order calling the wide use of Chinese apps a “national emergency”.
7. More checkpoints are appearing throughout the area but still appear to be used for random checks. Motor bikes, trikes and jeepneys appear to be the main targets. Again, just be aware of restrictions in your local area. You must have a quarantine pass to enter SM malls and other facilities in the area. S&R has initiated an only one person with a membership card will be allowed to enter policy.
