Sgt Michael R. Hilbert, USMC, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter PI 887 is a veterans service organization located in Angeles City, Philippines.

The motto of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is “Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another“. The VVA is a congressionally chartered national organization that serves Vietnam-era veterans and their families. The organization was founded in Washington, D.C. in January 1978 by 15 Vietnam veteran advocates. The VVA has been a leader in advocating for the U.S. government to fulfill its obligations to veterans. 

As a chapter of the Vietnam of America Organization out mission aligns with the core mission of the organization which is VVA’s mission isĀ to promote and support the full range of issues important to all veterans, to create a new identity for this generation of veterans, and to change public perception of Vietnam veterans. Create a positive public perceptionVVA chapters may work to change public opinion of Vietnam veterans, and promote physical and cultural improvement.

Support the communityVVA chapters may provide assistance to veterans’ families and the community through educational experiences, humanitarian projects, and financial assistance.

By the late 1970s, established veterans groups had failed to prioritize issues of concern to Vietnam veterans.
