The following information is provided by The American Legion Department of the Philippines Burial Assistance Office. 

It is our sad duty to inform you that several Comrades have fallen:

Case # 21-33 * Rodney Paul Czoberek, SSgt, U.S. Army Retired, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at The Medical City Clark. Per the family’s instructions, he was cremated on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at La Pieta Crematorium in Angeles City.

Case # 21-34 * Lafayette “Don” Donaldson, MSgt, U.S. Air Force Retired, Vietnam Veteran age 83, passed away on Wednesday,  March 24, 2021 at Dr. Armando L. Garcia Medical Center, Angeles City. Don was Past Post Commander, American Legion Post 123,

Past Post Commander, VFW Post 2485, Life Member & Past VFW Post 2485 Chaplain, Long-Standing Member of the VFW Post 2485 Cemetery Honor Guard & Honor Guard Chaplain, MOC Past Mighty Pinatubo Pup Tent 15 Seam Squirrel, Past Commander, DAV Chapter 3 & Life Member, VVA Chapter PI 887 Treasurer (current) & Life Member, Past President (Beagle #1) Beagles Organization.

Per the family’s instructions, he was cremated on Wednesday,  March 24, 2021 at Angeles City Public Cemetery & Crematory in

Angeles City.

Case # 21-35 * Quincy Bernard Murry, U.S. Military Veteran age 87, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 27, 2021 in Angeles City. He left no formal burial instructions, or who to notify in case of emergency. The U.S. Embassy is being assisted by the American Legion Department of the Philippines Burial Consultant in locating family members and validating his military service. His body is currently in storage at a local funeral home with all funeral arrangements on hold.

Case # 21-36 * Marlin Haynes, U.S. Air Force Veteran, age 51, passed away in the St Raphael Foundation and Medical Center on Monday, March 29, 2021 in Dau, Mabalacat. He left no formal burial instructions or who to notify in case of emergency.

Currently, the U.S. Embassy is being assisted by the American Legion Department of the Philippines Burial Consultant in locating family members & validating his military service. His body is currently in storage in a local funeral home with all funeral arrangements on hold.

Case # 21-38 * Donald Lee Schulze, MSgt, U.S. Air Force Retired, age 73, passed away at The Medical City Clark on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in Clark Freeport Zone, Mabalacat City. He was a Life Member of VVA Chapter PI 887. Pending notification of family members in the United States, funeral arrangements are on hold.

Case # 21-17 * It is with Great Sadness that the American Legion Department of the Philippines Burial Consultant and with Tremendous assistance from The US Embassy that Fallen Comrade

Michael Edward Maas, U.S. Army Veteran, age 39, who passed away on January 9, 2021 in Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital, San Fernando, Pampanga was buried as an Indigent in a Public Cemetery (location of the burial is unknown).  The local funeral home in San Fernando would not honor or approve the family’s request to have him laid to rest with a direct interment burial at Clark Veterans Cemetery, CFZ, in Angeles City that was approved by ABMC and Clark Freeport Burial Zone.

In compliance with the health and safety protocols imposed by the Local Authorities, there will not be any rendering of Military Honors or Burials at Clark Veterans Cemetery until further notice. A further announcement will be posted as to when the burials of our fallen comrades once the restriction is lifted.
