President's Message

No change in quarantine status.

1.  If you have not received your Federal Medical Program (FMP) letter listing your service connection medical conditions that you need to receive care in the Philippines, you can send an email requesting assistance to:  hac.fmp@va.gov.

2.  A trove of U.S. government documents has been released by a Welsh journalist in Japan regarding pollutants at U.S. bases in the Pacific, in hopes they will aid veterans seeking compensation from the VA.  Jon Mitchell, an investigative journalist released over a dozen documents that he uncovered while writing “Poisoning the Pacific: the U.S. Military’s Secret Dumping of Plutonium, Chemical Weapons, and Agent Orange”.  Please pass this to any prior service member that was stationed at any base in the Pacific (not just Vietnam).

3.  Department of Transportation has issued a final ruling that allows airlines to restrict animals in passenger cabins to service dogs, defined as any dog, regardless of breed, trained to help its handler with a physical, psychiatric, intellectual or mental disability.  MY PERSONAL COMMENT:  Finally – no more peacocks, pot belly pigs, miniature horses or untrained animals.

4.  The Navy is going to decommission fire damaged Bonhomme Richard.  Too much damage to repair.

5.  Maine and I will be delivering the gift bags, candy and other items to the Porac Home at 1000 hours (that’s 10am for those of you that have reverted to total civilian time) this Friday, 11 December.  You are welcome to join us in the presentation to Sister Ines who will deliver directly to the homes of the Porac Home residents who are unable to stay at the Home due to COVID-19.

STAY SAFE!!!!

JAMES (JIM) LARY
President
